From idea to Ella artwork…

I was really excited about painting an Ella artwork for competition winner Amy.  The initial brief was that she wanted something that included her baby son’s special teddy comforter, given to him by his Nanna (how the family spell Nana), so that he could always remember her.  The teddy said “Love and Hugs” on the blanket so we thought it would be lovely to paint this as “Love and Hugs Nanna x”.

I pictured the comforter being cuddled by another toy, and after thinking about it, Amy came back with her son’s handmade superhero toy – perfect!  The actual superhero toy has Rex’s name on the back of the cape, but as this isn’t visible in the painting I personalised it by putting his name on the mask.

The result is a wonderfully colourful and very personal painting, which will not only brighten up Rex’s room but is something Amy hopes he will cherish forever.
